“We are not at war”, said U.S. officials, after bombing Iran’s nuclear enrichment sites. No sign yet that others agree. There is extensive damage at the nuclear enrichment sites. Exactly how much, not yet known. Israel and Iran continue to lob armament at each other. The end game, not yet known. Domestic unrest continues – Los Angeles, no longer routine traffic stops, history-making One Big Beautiful Bill about to transfer wealth upwards toward wealth, farmers struggling, a heat dome descends.
Decision makers are people, and people being people means that most if not all decisions and actions follow rutted habit patterns, no matter what those decisions and actions are applied to. Swiftness of exerting power. Requiring others to comply, bend, recede. Fighting back is taken as illegitimate and unforgivable, to be met with swiftness of force. An armed scrum has deadly consequences. Since it takes time to figure out, it is well past time to ask, enjoin and fruitfully inspire into the question: towards what end? If you do not like what you see, hear, feel… be wary of the armed scrum.
