September 21, 2025

News for tomorrow: September 22, 2025 will be the equinox (“equal night”). The equinox marks the only time in the year when the day is as long as the night all over the globe and happens twice a year. In the Northern Hemisphere it is called the autumn equinox. In the Southern Hemisphere it is called the spring equinox.

No thing in nature is the same, except when it is… then so infrequently that ancient peoples stopped to notice, inquire, celebrate. Us modern folx manufacture sameness, enforce sameness, rage over sameness. We conflate sameness with equality and equity and all the now-banned words in the isms. Actually, the equinox is not about sameness at all. It is about alignment. And it takes a lot for the entire cosmos to operate in a particular way which, by the way, doesn’t happen at the same time every year, for the day to be as long as the night all over the place called Earth. Alignment is a complex simplicity. Momentarily, ever so briefly, we are equinox-ed, and then, as we must, we are released to other alignments. Sometimes, ever so briefly, I am aligned naturally, radically, and yes at that moment there is vibrant peace even in the chaos and I can act at any moment though at the moment of alignment no actions are required. May we all be so. (The lesson Earth would have us remember and practice on September 22, 2025.)
