Does the way Americans talk about politics encourage violence? In a Reuters/Ipsos poll (September 12-14): 63% a lot, 31% a little, 5% not at all. The margin between party affiliations = less than 5% in a poll with a margin of error of 3%
Why do we do it? Say it, gesture it, spew venom, cast poisonous shade, violently cancel? Well… partially… we think it is the other guy, the other party, the other folx who do not look like us who are inciting violence. They are the cause, not us, sez all the peoples. And we be right, 100% of the time. Sez all sides at the same time. (See #93.) It isn’t only what is said, it is what is not said. Whose death is mourned and raged over. Whose death is not acknowledged in deed or word. Callousness and rage, two sides of the same hand. Whoa! A strong riptide indeed. And as riptides go please remember, the riptide is just pure energy and doesn’t care about your ideology. btw… judging from the news itself, unlikely this is just about Americans. May we audaciously reverse the tide. (See #92)
